Tim had his second chemo today. As it is for most chemo patients, the chemo has been a real struggle and as rough as they say. Still, the hope is that eventually the chemo will stop or shrink the cancer so that Tim starts having less pain and feeling a little better.
Tim also just found out that he's positive for the BRCA1 mutation. This mutation increases the risk of both pancreatic cancer and breast cancer. So, now Tim is in the company of Angela Jolie who also has the same mutation. Did he really want to join this club? In the long run, this information may help Tim's blood relatives and guide their preventative screenings.
Paul met with his oncologist today to review his latest lab results. The results confirmed that his cancer has progressed to the point of needing treatment. Paul and his oncologist talked about starting chemo immediately or wait a bit more. Paul decided to postpone chemo for a couple more weeks. That way he can help out with Tim and possibly visit his parents in Wisconsin before travel becomes difficult because of fatigue and increased exposure to health risks.
